University’s food drive will benefit eight local food pantries, initiatives

University of the Cumberlands is coming together as one with the community for its annual food drive, to help feed people in need throughout Williamsburg, Kentucky, in preparation for the holiday season.

All community members who would like to supply a much-needed meal for a local family are welcome to drop off nonperishable food items on Cumberlands’ campus in the Office of Student Affairs, located on the top floor of the Boswell Campus Center. Financial donations are also welcome, as they will be used to purchase nonperishable foods in bulk for the community. To donate funds, and to learn more about the food drive, visit www.ucumberlands.edu/community-service and click “Annual Food Drive.”

Cumberlands will deliver the donated food to eight local food pantries and initiatives:

  • First Baptist Church Williamsburg Food Pantry
  • Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource Center
  • First Baptist Church Williamsburg Backpack Ministry
  • Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Food Pantry
  • Shiner Church of Christ Food Pantry
  • Emergency Christian Ministries Shelter
  • Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Food Pantry
  • Bread of Life Food Pantry Jellico

Over the years, Cumberlands and the local community have donated tens of thousands of pounds of food for families in need in southeastern Kentucky. This annual food drive is just one way the university models Christian principles by serving others.
