University of the Cumberlands (UC) presents the 25th annual Phyllis Richardson Wood Benefit Concert on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The public is invited to join the UC family at 7:30 p.m. in the Nell Moore Recital Hall for this special event.

The music scholarship fund provides financial assistance each year to one or more students who major in music at UC. The family of Mrs. Phyllis Richardson Wood, long-time resident of Williamsburg, established the scholarship in her memory and in honor of her support of the arts in the area.

This year’s event will feature UC senior John King. King is a vocalist from Cynthiana, Kentucky and the recipient of the 2017 PRW Scholarship Award. This particular scholarship is awarded to one music major each year who has excelled in both academics and performance. King is a church music/worship and history/political science double major.

The music faculty performing with King includes: Victor Andzulis (piano), Jim Corcoran (percussion), Sharon McGinley (soprano/piano), Tracy Schumann (trombone), Dr. Jeff Smoak (baritone), Dr. Steven Sudduth (trombone), David Threlkeld (saxophone) and Dr. Joey Wolfe (tenor).

The concert is open to the public for donations of $10 for adults and $5 for students. All proceeds go to the Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship Fund.
