University of the Cumberlands is now accepting applications for the first cohort of its Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program. The application cycle will remain open through April 2027, with the inaugural cohort beginning classes later in 2027.
First announced in June 2026, Cumberlands' new doctoral program is designed to prepare students to become skilled occupational therapy practitioners who promote health, well-being, and participation in meaningful daily activities across diverse populations.
Preparing Students for Careers in Occupational Therapy
The graduate-level Occupational Therapy Doctorate program is intended for students who have completed at least 90 undergraduate credit hours or hold a bachelor's degree or higher and want to pursue a healthcare career focused on client-centered, evidence-based occupational therapy practice.
Students enrolled in Cumberlands' OTD program will complete the degree over nine semesters. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates to become client-centered, evidence-informed, and occupation-focused practitioners, leaders, and scholars in the field of occupational therapy.
Throughout the program, Cumberlands will emphasize comprehensive preparation for licensure examinations, continued professional development, and student wellness.
