National physics honor society recognizes three students for academic excellence
University of the Cumberlands’ chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society, held its spring induction ceremony on April 21, 2026, recognizing student achievement in physics and scholarship.
Three new members were inducted into the chapter:
- Mr. Gabriel Paul Cima of Corbin, Kentucky
- Mr. Caleb O’Riley Poe of Owensboro, Kentucky
- Mr. Larry Zackary Willis of London, Kentucky
During the ceremony, members also elected officers for the 2026–2027 academic year:
- President: Mr. Gabe Cima of Corbin, Kentucky
- Vice President: Mr. Hauke Trost of Germany
- Secretary: Mr. Caleb Poe of Owensboro, Kentucky
- Treasurer: Mr. Zak Willis of London, Kentucky
Sigma Pi Sigma is a nationally recognized physics honor society and a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. It is also affiliated with the American Institute of Physics and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Founded in 1921, Sigma Pi Sigma recognizes outstanding achievement in physics and excellence in scholarship. University of the Cumberlands’ chapter was established in May 1998 as the 469th chapter in the nation.
