Master of Business Analytics

As the field of business moves deeper into the age of Big Data, analytics is playing an increasingly essential role in how companies make decisions and improve productivity. Analytics professionals who are comfortable working with large amounts of data and making informed decisions are in higher demand now than ever, particularly in technology-rich environments. 

This online master’s program in business analytics seeks to get our graduates ahead of the curve by educating them on important data analysis methodologies and giving them hands-on experience with state-of-the art analytics tools. Students in the program will gain understanding in data exploration and visualization, database management systems, data mining, and more.

BADM 699 Capstone or INTR 599 Applied Learning Practicum

This capstone course is designed to give you an opportunity to integrate and apply the knowledge you have acquired over your entire discipline of study. You will develop an academic paper or project on a practical business need or business-related problem, thereby expanding the professional body of knowledge about business while simultaneously offering insight to help improve business practice. This capstone course will assess your overall learning experience and intellectual growth in your program of study. The course should be taken during your final semester.

Being able to handle large amounts of data, analyze them, and use your analysis to make sound decisions is becoming an increasingly essential skill in the workforce. As technology advances, so does the amount of data. As data increases, so does the need for experts who can analyze that data and inform their company which direction to go in order to achieve the highest levels of success.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), business analytics careers are among the fastest-growing jobs in business and finance. The Bureau projects that the demand for market and operations research analysts will grow 19 percent and 23 percent from 2021 to 2031, respectively. Despite the growing demand, the United States faces a shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 individuals with advanced business analytic skills and 1.5 million managers and analysts with the know-how to use the analysis to make effective and informed decisions (McKinsey Global Institute report, n.d.). Essentially, anyone who possesses this knowledge is in high demand in many industries around the nation, and that demand is only growing.

Cumberlands business analytics degrees combines core business courses with technical skills in programming and working with large data sets in a business environment. Students take courses in business, finance, and marketing, but coursework may also include technical classes in computer programming, data analysis, and statistics.
