Dr. Summer Jackson serves as the Executive Programs Director in the Office of Academic Affairs at Cumberlands. Dr. Jackson works with the faculty and students of the Executive Programs, serving as the Director for the course site locations across the country. Dr. Jackson has worked within different positions and with the Executive Programs since their inception in Summer 2015.  She also assists with other academic projects across campus.

In addition to her role with the Executive Programs, Summer serves as a Project Manager, leading Academic IT and Faculty Development projects collaborating with departments across the university in implementation and training efforts. She has worked in higher education for over a decade, with extensive experience in student enrollment, especially regarding undergraduate, graduate and international admissions, IT, project management, academic programs, and course management.

Beyond her work in the Office of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jackson is a professor of marketing, human resources, leadership, management courses and has served as a dissertation committee member for doctoral students. She strives to present course knowledge in a practical way that helps students step out of the classroom and immediately apply the course’s objectives in their work environments and community. Her passion for this application isn’t just for her students, but for the youth she has worked with through college readiness opportunities over the years.

Dr. Jackson has served on various boards and organizations in the southeastern Kentucky region, with a passion for leadership and youth in particular in Eastern Kentucky. In her free time she enjoys traveling throughout Kentucky, the U.S. and internationally, cheering loud while watching (and attending) basketball or football games, and attending as many concerts as she can fit in!
