The University of the Cumberlands is committed to its mission of providing accessible education to students from diverse backgrounds. As part of this commitment, we offer online academic programs that utilize modern technology, allowing international students the opportunity to pursue their studies from the comfort of their home countries.

Our online programs are specifically designed to cater to non-traditional students who may have various commitments and responsibilities that make attending a traditional classroom setting challenging or impossible. We recognize the importance of flexibility in higher education and strive to meet the needs of these individuals by providing a convenient and accessible online learning environment.

Cumberlands goal is to offer online academic programs that are equal in content and quality to traditional in-person programs. We strive to ensure that our online students have access to the necessary academic and student support services they need. Through effective training and ongoing support, we aim to provide a practical and seamless online education experience for both students and faculty.

One of our key objectives is to foster the development of critical thinking skills and metacognition in the online classroom. We believe that these skills are essential for success in today's rapidly changing world.

Available Programs

Our bachelor degree programs for international online students require 120 credit hours for program completion. In addition to the courses outlined below, international online students would need to complete Cumberlands' general education requirements. This would include another 37 hours of general education coursework.

The University of the Cumberlands offers a range of programs designed to provide specific preparation for students pursuing various degrees. Each program varies in length, with required hours ranging from thirty (30) to sixty-six (66), including diverse Field/Clinical Experiences. Our programs require dedication and commitment to learning, and successful students are self-disciplined individuals who display a strong commitment to earning a degree.

At the University of the Cumberlands, students can expect to spend an average of 15-20 hours or more per week on their studies. While they have flexibility in their study schedule, achieving personal educational and career goals requires substantial time and effort.

Throughout their academic journey, students receive support from faculty advisors, the Graduate Student Success Office or the Department of International Graduate Studies, creating an innovative learning environment with abundant resources. This ensures meaningful interactions between students and faculty, as well as among other students.

Students may take up to 12 credit hours each Fall, Spring or Summer semester without exceptions or over-rides. Those on academic warning or probation are limited to a maximum of 3 hours per eight-week session.

 

Available Programs

Based on the selected programs, international online graduate students can earn a master's degree with completion of 31-37 credit hours.

Tuition Information

Cumberlands is one of the most affordable universities in Kentucky and around the nation, especially with our One Price Promise.

Bachelor Program Tuition

$320 per credit hour

Students taking between 12-18 hours per semester will pay, on average, between $3,840 and $5,760 per semester. 

Masters Program Tuition

$455 per credit hour

Students taking between 6-12 hours per semester will pay, on average, between $2,730 and $5,460 per semester. 

Doctorate Program Tuition

$649 per credit hour

Students taking between 6-12 hours per semester will pay, on average, between $3,894 and $7,788 per semester. 

Admissions Requirements

Admissions requirements are standard throughout the university and applies to all students. Some programs have additional requirements in addition to the base standards. The purpose of the admission process is to identify applicants who are likely to succeed academically at University of the Cumberlands and at the same time contribute positively to the campus community. In making admission decisions the University considers many factors, including high school records (including courses taken, grade trends, and rank in class), standardized test scores, extracurricular activities and honors, and personal contact with the student. In some cases, a teacher recommendation and an essay may be requested. 

Program Structure

University of the Cumberlands online programs are offered year-round during three semesters (spring, summer, and fall). Each 16-week semester is broken into two, eight-week bi-terms. With University of the Cumberlands' Academic Calendar, you can remain up to date with your future academic start dates, deadlines and breaks.
